Website Security and Plugin “Plug”

Website Security and Plugin “Plug”

Lately, I have had a few problems with server hacks and WordPress sites getting corrupted. These were automated bots inserting malicious code into various WordPress core pages.

If this has happened to you, there are a number of steps you can take to prevent further interruption in the vein of plugins.

After you clean your site with a fresh install of wordpress and removed all the extra files that may have been dropped on the server (I do this quickly by comparing the dates on the files), there is a plugin called “Wordfence” that I recommend highly.  The plugin is very robust with many security features that you can set.  Every site that i have installed this plugin on, it has helped in the fact I have has no more hacks. I get notified if files are changed and can run automatic periodical scans on the WordPress site as well as the external files on the server.

Wordfence can set automatic blocks on bots and failed user login attempts. It really is a lifesaver.

If you have a WordPress site, save yourself alot of time and get this one installed!
